ACCS therapeutic toolbox

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a powerful transformative process to help release neurophysiological anxiety, stress, trauma, cravings and other energies to help the body and brain rebalance to function more effectively.

Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Biofeedback

Resetting our hearts and nervous systems is an important transformation in the change process. HRV is a powerful tool that is used during the therapy process, but equally a tool to bring forward into your life after therapy to help improve functioning and managing stress.

Mindfulness

Learning to harness the power of our awareness is essential to change and transformation.  Mindfulness is embedded in all psychological therapies but equally can be taught and experienced to learn to improve management of our internal world.

Ego state therapy

Our brains and bodies are amazing. They have been working overtime to keep us safe and functioning all our lives. Through this process our systems develop their own way to survive. Many of things that we struggle with avoidance, substance abuse, worry and/or fear are the adaptations our brains and bodies are using to cope. Increasing insight and management internally is essential and ego state therapy is an effective tool to aid in this journey.

“Psychologists usually try to help people use insight and understanding to manage their behavior. However, neuroscience research shows that very few psychological problems are the results of defects in understanding; most originate in pressures from deeper regions in the brain that drive our perceptions and attention. When the alarm bell of the emotional brain keeps signaling that you are in danger, no amount of insight will silence it.” –Bessel A. van der Kolk — Leading research and treatment expert on neuroscience and trauma
