Brainspotting is an integrative method that can fit well with various clinical situations. Addiction is a neurophysiological phenomenon thus needs deeper interventions, such as Brainspotting, to help rewire the brain and bodies pathways. During this 2 day training participants will explore and build skills with working with the most addictions and addictive adaptations including:

• Substances

• Food

• Cigarettes and other nicotine

• Sex

• Relationship

• Computer and game

The training will include a journey through understanding and updated information on the neurophysiology of addictions while building skills with:

• Increasing success with brainspotting interventions with addictiveness including ways to prepare clients for brainspotting

• Specific ways to apply brainspotting with core elements of addictions including: Co-occuring struggles, cravings, and addiction specific ways to tweak frame set ups to fit specific addictiveness

• Increasing skills with working with avoidance and difficult clients that traditionally struggle with brainspotting or deeper work

This training is the culmination of the past 15 years of Jeff Ryan’s exploration of brainspotting with addictions.  It draws upon cutting research, neurophysiology, interoceptive skills and awarenesses, and relational approaches with the adaptation of addictiveness.

Completion of online or in-person Phase One BSP training is required to attend.

Course Objectives:

• Increase knowledge and skills with identifying and working the neurophysiological roots of addictions using brainspotting
  

• Learn to assess and work with interoception (definition: sensing internal signals from the body) an increasingly evidenced pathway toward deeper healing and transformation

• Learn somatically based ways to prepare for brainspotting and deepen the effects of brainspotting

• Learn ways to apply phase 1 and 2 brainspotting skills in the treatment of addictions with cravings, underlying roots of addictions, and other co-occurring survival adaptations

Course content level: Appropriate for Introductory and Intermediate level professionals

Bio

Jeff Ryan LPC, CSAC is a US based Brainspotting trainer. He is the owner of Advanced Counseling and Consulting Services (ACCS), a clinical and consulting clinic in Neenah, WI. For the last 15 years, he has been exploring and integrating BSP in treating substance abuse, dissociation and trauma. He provides Phase 1 and 2 BSP training, certification consultation, and consultation with integrating BSP with substance abuse and other disorders.
